Once those Towers were destroyed it stopped being a local matter. The future of the site is something that people from across the nation and the world care about deeply. Why should two New York politicians be standing in the way of what most people want to see rebuilt?
I get cheers from the fellas at my local firehouse when they see me in my “REBUILD” shirt. Isn’t it strange that when they had that architectural “beauty contest” at the Wintergarden back in 2002 putting back what was there was not even a choice? I wanted to scream!
The Israelis are old hands at this, and to them it’s not even a question. No debate, no palaver, no design contests. As soon as the bodies are removed (painstakingly, bit by bit, as Jewish law dictates), construction crews are on the scene and they put back what was there. That tells the Arabs that they cannot win.
WE MUST REBUILD THE TWIN TOWERS. WHEN AMERICA WAS ATTACKED AT PEARL HARBOR SOME OF OUR FINEST BATTLESHIPS WERE SUNK OR DESTROYED. OUR ENEMIES THOUGHT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WOULD LOSE THE WILL TO FIGHT AND OUR ENEMIES WOULD CONTROL THE WORLD. BUT WE DID NOT. WE RAISED THOSE SUNKEN BATTLESHIPS, REFITTED THEM, REMANED THEM, SENT THEM BACK OUT TO SEA TO DEFEAT JAPAN AND THEN JAPAN KNEW THE WILL OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. THAT IS WHY WE MUST REBUILD. WE MUST BECOME THE NATION WE ONCE WAS AND NOT BE AFRAID
The Twin Towers deserve to be brought back to where they belong. The Freedom Tower symbolizes nothing but a victory for Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda. As a native of Israel, the Freedom Tower is a shot in the foot when it comes to defying terrorism.
The Ground Zero isn’t sacred ground–it’s DEFILED GROUND. To deny this is to deny reality. Plain and simple. And shall maintain that status until the Twin Towers are restored. G-d bless those lost. G-d bless America.
Stop the nonsense and put the Towers back up where they belong.
And enough with this nonsense about the Memorial being the most important thing. It isn’t. It can be decent, dignified and appropriate without costing billions.
Rebuilding the towers is the ONLY answer…!!! NOTHING else will give me back the energy and satisfaction to be a New Yorker than seeing the even taller new twin towers in the skyline of our city…!!!
Although I believe there are alternatives to rebuilding the twins, I believe any new structure should be at least one story taller than the original towers (with a public observation deck at its peak).
We need to rebuild the twin towers on a new footprint. They should be taller, stronger, and better. NYC needs this. Why not make them the tallest in the world? The current redesign proposal is simply too small and not tall enough. Let’s do it!
Rebuilding the Twins would send a bold message of defiance to the 9/11 murderers from an aroused America, but NOT rebuilding them means we will let the killers dictate what our skyline will look like for the next hundred years or more. NUTS TO THAT!
the twin towers should be rebuilt–nothing else would fill the void that they left.Anything else would be a permanent reminder of what had been lost–not just the lives of those so monstrously taken, but the resolve and courage of all our heroes.
Rebuild the Twin Towers. There is no compelling reason why anything less should be part of the New York City skyline. We have the greatest city in the world, and must not settle for less.
I worked in WTC for 4 yrs. They are the happiest years of my life. I want the twin towers back. Not just for nostalgic reasons, but also it makes perfect sense after seeing the ugly alternatives offered to be built there. NYC skyline needs twintowers.
please rebuild ! we need to see those towers standing taller then ever for the people who lost their lives ! for our country to stand tall and to show them ,that we are the greatest country in the world and the greatest city in the usa~twin towers 4e
We need to rebuild the Towers. These buildings embodied the NY Skyline, as well as were my work “home” for a few years. I am proud to say I worked there, and hope that I have the opportunity to say: “I am working there again.” God Bless this coun
Rebuilding the World Trade Center will be a fitting tribute for the people who died that day. As Americans, We can’t make the terrorists win over this country. We need to stand up as one nation show to the world that we can overcome 9-11 and rebuild
History will view the failure to reconstruct the towers as the key event in the decline of New York from the worldís most dynamic and resilient metropolis to one which, like ancient Rome, became increasingly irrelevant.
I have many pictures of the towers hanging in my home. They have been hanging since before 9/11. My father and I both worked in WTCI. It is heart breaking to look at the downtown skyline and to not see those majestic towers.
Even five years after the attack you can look at any photo, painting, drawing, etc. of the New York skyline — What do you see? The Twin Towers. I refuse to believe that we would allow our skyline to be altered permanently and then try to repair it with a shadow (Freedom Tower) of the symbolic & powerful buildings that once defined our city. Raise up the TOWERS!
This is not about office space or urban planning. This is about taking a beating and refusing to go down. Surrounded by the Nazis at Bastonge, facing imminent death, General McAuliffe simply replied “nuts.” That’s the American spirit we need here.
It is of enormously secondary imporance that the original Twin Towers were, to some extent, a government boondoggle. In practice, they were at the nerve center of global capitalism. In spirit, they represent the essence of capitalism: individual rights, superlative wealth, and immense power–the power to live joyously on earth. Nothing could redound more to the glory of American capitalism than its roll call of enemies: it is hated by the National Socialists, the Communists, the Islamists.
As a permanent reminder and memorial the floors hit should be blacked out, creating black arm bands on both towers. Black steel creates the band for the day and light on other floors creates it at night. It will force us for every to remember that day
If the White House or a bridge was destroyed instead of an office building, there would be no question to rebuild out of pride and necessity. Rebuilding the Twin Towers to at least the original height has a far greater reason than either of these reasons although there is an argument for both. We must rebuild because they do more than making us feel proud or are needed; they ARE America and we must rebuild America; physically and spiritually. This is a national priority.
Our security and armed forces will never allow such an attachk again and this shows more than anything that evil and hatred will not be a force to subdue freedom and goodness.
The Freedom Tower is a travesty. I beleive the way to show our reslove as a nation and to honor those who have fallen is to search our souls, reach into the sky and rebuild the Towers as they stood on Sept. 10, 2001.
What we New Yorkers need right now is to have Donald Trump get started on the New Twin Towers. Not have them will forever remind us and the world what once stood there.
We need the Towers to be rebuild. Anything less is yieldiing to the Terrorists. Id Bush, Pataki, and Bloomburg don’t understand this then they need to go.
This should about more than economics or the current fashions in architecture and city planning. This is about the American Spirit. This is about ultimately winning the battle of 9/11 in the only place where true victory is possible.
Please rebuild the towers, make NY NY again. I want to look out my window and see them in all their glory and I think anything different would just be a constant reminder of what happend on 9/11 just like the emptyness of the skyline is right now.
New York will never be the same in beauty and spirit if we do not re-build the Towers. I was there that horrible day, seeing them fall but my heart would rejoice at seeing them rise in the sky once again.
There is only one way to restore America! If the towers were anywhere else in the United States, there would be no issue. But here in New York City where it takes 20 years to develop Columbus Circle or Times Square, what do you expect? Restore WTC!!
The Twin Towers need to be rebuilt, taller than before. They would be a great capstone to the resurgence of our city, complimenting the new stadiums and other facilities being built around the city.
I hope to see the rebuilding of the WTC in the near future. We shouldn’t let terrorist stop us from rebuilding. I do hope it will be in a different location.
Lower Manhattan isnt quite the same without the Twin Towers. Re-build them bigger and better than before. Screw Bin-Laden and the crooked politicians up in Albany.
My family has lived in a Brooklyn brownstone apartment for 38 years, on the 4th fl. Our back windows face downtown and we watched The Twin Towers rise and fall. I look out each day and my heart aches. I want to see something there again!
I would love nothing more than to see the Twin Towers back up!!! Nothing else comes close. The freedam tower is sooo pale in comparison. Let’s show the world how strong and resiliant us New Yorkers really are!!!
As a New Yorker who is serving in the United States Navy, I would love nothing more than to see the towers sore over the city again. Also to get a second chance to visit the towers, as I have never gotten the chance before Sep 11.
Not that ugly projects. Same exterior design and toller – to show that we only getting bigger and stronger. I think what all the victims would want.
Give it to Tramp, he knows how to build.
Politics and greed… shows that they win.
Shame on you.
To be in Downtown Manhattan is heartbreaking and it will always be. Whatever other building would stand at the World Trade Center Site- it will always be a building standing “where the Twin Towers used to be”, always a sad replacement.
I live in Manhattan and work right next to the WTC site both before and after 9/11. It is depressing to see a big ugly hole on the ground rather than the amazing towers that used to be next door. With the learnings from 9/11, we surely can rebuild a safer WTC that looks the way it was.
I also agree, and always have since the day I witnessed the fall of the Towers from the corner of West 4th St. and 6th Ave. that the best response to any terrorist, is for us to rebuild two Towers again, taller and Stronger than before. It is my observation that fear is the ultimate weapon of terrorists or any other extremist group and that by not building Two towers again will forever be a mark of the fear that has been imposed upon us as a nation and people. Let us not give in to fear.
Roger
Terrorism is a war against the mind. It kills civilians so that the witnesses to this inhumanity will make decisions based on fear & hate. We can not submit to this. We must rebuild and defy those who have challenged our spirit.
The face of our city has since been destroyed, the moment those beloved towers fell to the ground. We will never forget the heroes and the victims that perished that day. But what we will forget are those towers that they were in that trying morning. We need to do what is right for victims and rebuilding the Twin Towers will prove to all other countries that our nation will never tolerate terrorism. We shall not change the face of our skyline and kill our pride for terrorists.
There is so much I would like to say.
I have been to the Towers many times and it hurts to see old pictures of it now. But firmly think it should be built as it was. Any other landmark (ie White House or Senate ) would be rebuilt as is so should the Twin Towers.
Defeating islamofascism requires not just beating this enemy on the battlefields and the rat-holes they hide in, it also requires defeating them in our own minds. What good is victory without resolution? Not only should the twin towers be rebuilt, but they should be taller, wider and more imposing than before. They should be more than mere buildings. They should be a statement….Don’t tread on me!
Rebuild the Towers bigger and better than they were. Let’s do something constructive now, it has been way to long without any concrete evidence of progress.
Pataki and the Bloomberg are a disgrace, not as people, but as visionary men. The vision of New York’s skyline will far exceed, outlive and outlast the current imbroglio that has produced the Freedom Tower compromise.
With the utmost respect to all family members affected by the death of loved ones in the tragic terrorist attack, the public should be allowed to debate which buildings should stand on this once brilliant site. There has been no courage from the government on this issue.
This is a wonderful web site. I learned about it from an article in the New York Sun. You need to find other ways to publicize it, so a groundswell can be created to rebuild the towers.
God forbid that The White House had also been hit by a stolen terrorist-commandeered aircraft — as we now know was intended — The White House would not have been rebuilt as a “White House Tower”. It would have been replicated as The White House. That’s what should be done here. The Twin Towers and nothing else. Restore the N.Y.C. skyline as it was pre-September 11, 2001!
Maybe not an exact replica but something close that restores the skyline and the planning principles espoused by the likes of Jane Jacobs. The Freedom Tower is contrived like Freedom Fries or the rantings of a commentator on Fox.
I believe that the twin towers were unique in the world. Freedom towers can be found elsewhere; there is nothing special about them. We should rebuild the twin towers exactly as they were, except structurally improved and a couple of stories higher. That’ll show the world what NY and America is made of.
Additionally, $500 mill for the memorial is an obscene figure. We should have something tastful and appropriate, but $500 million is simply over the top.
While the World Trade Towers were pretty ugly ( the boxes the Empire State and Chrysler came in, as the old joke goes) it is essential that two buildings as big, hopefully better go on the site. American deserves no less.
Rebuild the towers.Their beauty was their uniqueness. The Freedom tower is architecturally rediculous. Half of it is unuseable. The designer was famous for building a three story building in Europe. He must be a relative of Sen. Schumer. What is this Memorial all about? I must have missed it. 58,000 soldiers died in Vietnam and a memorial could not be built until the funding was publicly raised.I am unaware of any public clamor for anything other than a plaque on the ground floor of the first tower
SHOULD REBUIELD THE SAME AS WE HAD BUT 1 MORE FLOOR HIGHER.THIS WUOLD LET THE WORLD KNOW ” YOU CAN KNOCK US DOWN BUT WE WILL COME BACK BIGGER- BETTER AND TALLER” SEE YOU CAN TAKE OUR BUILDINCS BUT “NOT OUR HOPES-DREAMS AND SPRIT.
Any effort to build anything else but the Twin Towers is a victory for the terrorists who perpetrated this horrible act.
I grieve for the families and friends of those who perished in the attacks (I myself knew members of the staff of Windows of the World and of its security company, MAS).
However, when the Dutch purchased Manhattan in 1626 from the native Mannahatans, I am fairly certain that burial grounds and other lands that were considered sacred were rebuilt “for the greater good”.
I saw the Towers built, watched them go up from what seemed like the bowels of the earth to touch the sky. We must rebuild them exactly, but stronger, better and one story higher. Would that some day I will again dine at Windows on the World. The only memorial should be the towers back and beautiful.
Everyone seems to forget the shouts in the street for rebuilding the WTC on Sept. 11th. I do, I am absolutely disgusted by this giant surrender tower/trophy to Al-Qaeda they want to build. They tried to bring it down in 1993, then they succeeded on Sept 11th. and it will forever be a success for terrorism as long as the towers are not rebuilt.
Freedom Tower succeeds wildly at stating to the world that, for a moment in time, the United States withered in the face of global terrorism. The prior design, just as unfortunate, was alledgedly ripped off from a Yale architecture student.
There is no soaring spirit in this design, only morbidity and capitulation. The design says we couldn’t soar; that we did not have the courage or strength to soar. Rebuild the Twin Towers taller and better than before.
The project should have been turned over to Trump long ago. I feel politicians create obstacles to cause delays and to protect their, lets say, “interests”. I don’t believe any consideration was given to the victims’ families and to metro New Yorkers as to what we want to see happen at Ground Zero. I personally want to see the towers rebuilt bigger than before. Anger over what our government let happen to us as a nation consumes me till this day. Our elected officials should, for once, listen to what the people have to say.
The picture on your home page says it all: without the Twin Towers standing there will always be something missing. I worked on Vesey Street (across the street from the World Trade Center), witnessed the horrible devastation when I returned to work.
It’s about time we move forward and stop the bureacratic BS!
For me, the WTC symbolized many things, among them the strength and viability of this city and of this country, no matter what the odds. They were an unmistakeable part of the Manhattan skyline and they should be put back on opposite footprints. Remember those lost by building the WTC the same but better, not by reducing it.WTC IN OUR HEARTS AND MINDS! LETS PUT THE REAL DEAL BACK WHERE IT BELONGS! MAY THE TOWERS RISE AGAIN, AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!
The rebuilding of the Twin Towers is a moral imperative, perhaps even more so than their initial construction. I am New Yorker by birth, a former downtown resident but still work downtown. A civilized and forward moving society does not cower in the face of challenge but instead rebuilds in a bigger, better and stronger fashion. That would be the greatest tribute and honor to those who died on 9/11, those who built this great city and a lesson for generations to come.
I was a direct witness to this horror and still today the image of the towers coming down, reminds me of the horrible feeling in my heart at that moment. I felt powerless, without answers, without leaders, and still feel that way. As New Yorkers we will never heal if we don’t rebuild what was part of us, part of our proud city. Our leaders mention the word rebuild, but what they are doing is changing, not rebuilding. I use to love to drive around the B.Q.E. under Brooklyn Heights and enjoy that view. REBUILD.
Every barbarian act of terror and kidnapping must be responded to with the same reply; you get nothing, you win nothing, you change nothing. To replace what has been destroyed is first and foremost not a gesture, it is the reaffimation of who we are as a people.
NOTHING COULD BE BETTER FOR NEW YORKERS AND THE WORLD THAN REBUILDING SIMILAR LOOKING TOWERS, STRONGER AND TALLER = TO BE WORLD’S TALLEST AGAIN!
IF YOU REBUILT IT QUICKLY, IT SAID KNOCK US AND WE GET BACK UP 123, BUT NOW DRAGGING ON TO BUILD SOME SILLY SKELETON BUILDING..BAD MOVES! REBUILD THE TWINS ASAP!
After these many months, I still cannot look in the direction of that empty space in our skyline, and in my heart. Your proposal gives voice to the personal hope that New York’s majestic profile could be restored as it was, with towering twins to tell the world of our undaunted audacity. Nothing less can truly fill that void in our city’s sights-to-see, and instruct our enemies in our citizens’ constancy and courage. This idea is worthy of immediate support and action.
The memorial should be in an added 5 story walk up to the observation desk. Along the walk up should be a stained glass memorial to each victim with an eternal flame in the center.
Let’s cease and desist with all of this incessent bureaucratic tail-chasing and rebuild the World Trade Center in its majestic entirety, EXACTLY as it stood prior to 9/11/01. The Greatest City In The World (and all of America) deserves nothing less!!!
The only buildings I want to see back are the Twin Towers the way they were. Anything less and we give in to the terrorists. I don’t want the Freedom Tower. I want see my beautiful Towers back, nothing less. I truly believe the murdered victims would want the same thing.
We need our leaders to be men and women of vision, like Lew Rudin who showed the true spirit of New York: a can-do attitude during the lowest depths of the city’s fiscal crisis. It was tragic that Rudin died just days after the 9/11 attacks, and even sadder to know that he died with the knowledge that he would not be there to help his city recover, and that our current “civic leaders” would simply not have what it took to dare, to dream, and to resist the demands of those who hate civilization.
Please rebuild the towers. I lived on 26th street, around the corner from the Armory (where all the families went to find (what they thought were) missing loved ones. I watched the whole thing from my friend’s apartment rooftop in Brooklyn that day. Please rebuild those towers. DO SOMETHING ALREADY. It’s a shame that they can’t get past their differences, stupid politics. Just break ground and get building. Everyone will finally be able to move on from their aching hearts.
Give us back these beautiful iconic structures, upon the view of which (from one mile north) I meditated every night. That stupid “Freedom Tower” is nothing but a glorified tv antenna, and the other buildings are nothing. The upper floors can be sold to oil-rich middle-east countries for use as embassies, consulates, guest quarters, mosques (?!–why not) for at least $100M each, which is chump change for those governments. Kind of insurance, and cash to re-build.
I want the towers rebuilt to their former splendor. They were towers of hope and happiness; and of freedom and pride. I do not want the Freedom Tower built on the grave site of so many who were lost just because of a resolvement that people want only for money. God bless the Twin Towers and everyone who perished on September 11, 2001.
I think rebuilding the twin towers would show the terrorists and other people who are trying to undermine this country that we are not afraid of them. This would send a message to them that they cannot mess with this great nation.
To me and many New Yorkers, rebuilding the Twin Towers wild definitely make a statement to the terrorists that we are stronger than ever. The Freedom Tower represents weakness by Governor Pataki and those in charge of the reconstruction. They should scrap the idea for the Freedom Tower and rebuild the Towers stronger than before and with a better memorial.
rebuild them,
they would be the best practical office space,
they would be the best monument,
they would be the best image of what america is and what the enemy hates.
rebuild them and rub it in!
It is sad I drive over skyline drive and I used to look and see the twin towers but now its just a big gap of nothing. To build the towers again will fill hearts and hope for the country
This is not only a must for today’s generation but for all generations to follow. New York needs to rebuild so that all of the world can see that it will never allow any person or persons to scare or intimidate the soul of our freedom and democracy. You can fly into buildings all day long and you will never be as strong as we are !
I think we should rebuild the towers the same way we need them in the skyline. we need to show the terriosts they cant take the towers away from us,i always thought the towers were so great to see i know all of the newyorkers would love to see the towers again we need them back. NO FREEDOM TOWER,WE NEED THE SAME OLD TOWERS BACK GOD BLEES AMERICA.REBUILD THE WORLD TRADE CENTER.
I was working at 40 Worth Street from 1965 to 1991. I remember when the World Trade Center was under construction and I have been going through it hundreds if not thousands of time.To me it had been a personal loss. I would like to see it rebuilt to its original design. Leave all politics out of it and I do not believe that widows of that day has any more right than all the rest of us.O ver 30,000 citizens die each year on the Nation’s highways. What about their widows and widowers???
not rebuilding the twin towers is the most rediculous thought- these folks making the choice aint new yorkers, they dont really care. let the people’s voice be heard. it makes me sick to see the freedom tower and if they make it, i will feel sick everytime i see it, and i should never feel sick looking at my city. god bless america. 319
We should rebuild the towers and put rocket launchers at the top of them so we can shoot down anything comin at them. I was in Manhattan on 9/11 and I can say that even after the years of fear that I have worked through I STILL think we should REBUILD THE TOWERS!!!!!!!!
I think to not rebuild the Twin Towers is an act of cowardice by our political leaders. I would be first on line to work at the top floors of the buildings.
i had worked on this project as a cost estimator and change order specialist for the port authority of NY & NJ. i want to see 2 TOWERS when i am getting ready to land.
Im from williamsburg Brooklyn i had a very good view of the twin towers i went to high school two blocks away from the twin towers. it was a symbol of new york my home. those people messed with my home and the slow response is just as painful i say put it back up give people some work and make it better and stronger than ever.
It is not an impossible project. Better security and safety features are available, and we’re not wanting for construction workers and all the skilled labor required for such a project. Nor are the funds lacking. Two towers side by side, and that crazy big antenna topping them off. I still see them in my mind’s eye every day. Things can never be exactly as they were, but pride, achievement and ingenuity have no shelf life. Twin towers please!
I agree with the many people who feel that the only way to show the world WE WILL NOT BACK DOWN and WE WILL NOT BE BROKEN, is to REBUILD the TOWERS. Any other extra buidlings are fine, but the TOWERS must be REBUILT!
The Freedom tower is not the right thing to build. We should Re-build the towers bigger and better than they were before. By building the freedom tower, we have given into fears of terrorism, and we may as well live with our tales between our legs for the rest of our lives. i thought we were americans, since when do we give into them? This is the wrong idea, we must rebuild them and show that we as americans can band together and display our ingenuity and fearless attitudes
I am only 14 and live in Stamford, CT. I have fond memories of the Twin Towers and always thought they were the most beautiful buildings in New York. I was shocked, like everyone else about the events of 9/11. I lost my favorite buildings. From that day on, I knew they had to be rebuilt. The Freedom Tower is ugly and must not be built! If it’s built, it will showcase our failure. Let’s go with Trump’s idea and show the terrorists that the pheonix will rise from the ashes and they have lost!!!
I always thought that the original Twin Towers showed New York City’s strength and power as an economic capital of the world. On ocassions, I had business meetings there and would always eat lunch at the Windows of the World restaurant and enjoyed fantastic views of the city. I believe the Twin Towers should be rebuilt exactly as they were before 9/11, except make the structures safer. I look forward to seeing them built.
My father passed in january 2004, he was raised in Manhattan and attended Holy Name and Commerce schools, I live in North Carolina. I will never forget the pain and horror of the evil that took the twin towers that day, and surely will never forget his expression and sorrow that consumed us as a family.
Unfortunatelly,I moved to NYC from west coast a year after the tragedy. It’s funny to say that I was inspired to come and be part of this city by that terrible event that took a place at the end of the summer of 01…
Needless to say,I have never had a chance to visit WTC,but I was always fascinated by NY skyline and Twins. To me,NYC is not that same city everyone knows and dreams to be part of it,without Twin Towers…therefore,I support rebuilding the towers as they once stood…
It is a shame the Twin Towers will not be rebuilt because of politics. What needs to be done is to reclaim nyc’s skyline to what it once was. The current plan only makes the terrorists victorious while making us new yorkers the real losers. Shame to pataki and the all master planners. They’re simply kissing the asses of the people who destroyed a symbol of ny and giving us a slap in the face by saying “Let’s built something cheaper.”
I rather have the old towers than the crappy one. I dont like the freedom tower becuz whats freedom about it?? >.> They should just remake the old twin towers with some different material such as a memorial chapel for all the ppl who have lost their lives.
Building anything else on the World Trade Center site would be nothing but a monument to terrorism, period. Put the towers back, but this time better, stronger and bigger, but visually the same. That would be paying the ultimiate respect to every single individual who lost their life that terrible day. Make large structual blocks bearing the picture and biography of every person lost, and that would be the tribute I’d bet every single last one of them would want.
As long as the towers are gone. the vicious “scar” of September 11, 2001 will always remain on New York.
We must restore our pride and glory and rebuild the twin towers, and build them taller.
All we have done since 9/11 is let the terrorists succeed. bin laden was not captured and we went into iraq who did not even attack us. The taliban is starting to regain power in afganastan. Utop all of this the Twin Towers space is still emptey. We MUST rebuild the WTC.
I ask what better momument of rememberance could we as a country build other than the Twin Towers? What else would be fitting? A Lobby in each to commemerate the old and added floors with space for the tokens from loved ones who lost their family members in the observation decks. What better symbol of our endurance and resiliance could we ever hope to build? Build them back higher stronger and more boldly, not some monstrous compromise of design and disunity.
rebuild the towers it may take some time to finally fill them but it will be a truly great tribute to our fellow americans who we lost and knowing it’s our tribute to their american spirit that is how we in this great country can show the world how we will not fear islamic extremists, terrorists and all who support them but our love for our fellow countrymen soars as high as these great towers stood truly it is how i know many feel i salute america thank you tom
I was looking outside of my 5th grade window when the PA announcement came on that there was a city wide emergency. From uptown the windows were facing downtown and you could see the smoke and you could hear the sirens. They should rebuild the Twins and make them higher and show them of our American spirit. Rebuild my beloved New York Skyline!
I have been living in Queens, N.Y. since 1982 and have been a part of the trade center since then. I would love to see the rebuilding of the World Trade to show that you cannot break us.
I used to work in WINDOWS on the WORLD. I lost alot of good friends and I lost a woman who I was looking to marry. I have never been willing to talk about what happen to me just before 9/11/01. I will say this i have and a proud New YORKER. I fell that if our government fell that we need a freedom tower. Then they are right. I just fee that that there tower should not be built on top of our love ones. I hope that we could rebuilt and show the love of our fallen ones by showing the towers r back.
Fill the aching gap in the skyline! Every morning commuting from NJ, the Towers were the visual object for my day’s blesssings “God bless this day and all that’s in it” is what I would say looking at the Towers. I used to see the Towers from a 2nd floor window in my NJ house. I looked for then when I crossed over Rte 3 to the grocery store. I still look for them, I still try to bless my day searching for something that held as much meaning. There is none. My heart aches at the empty sky.
I want my towers back! I feel for the famlies of all the lives lost. This is the only way to show all the world that we will show respect to those who died.
Rebuild the Twin Towers & reopen them on an anniversary of 9/11 & proclaimed it a national holiday–“freedom day.” Visiting them would be like an pilgrimage for all Americans! Office space would be sold out there–it would be very patriotic to be apart of the TTs resurrection. I have been writing letters to prez candidates asking for support in rebuilding the towers–I am not sure what else to do. I can think of nothing more honorable to the memory of those victims then to rebuild what was lost.
I agree that the Twin Towers should be rebuilt as they were (only stronger) to show those who are out to kill us, that though they may kill some of us, they cannot kill our spirit.
I’m not an absolutist about this, but this design-by-committee solution that we have now is nothing worthy. If something completely awe inspiringly spectacular were to come forward, I would say “Let’s Do It,” but nothing has. Even with a list of respectable architects, it is ultimately all a hodgepodge of special interests that have cobbled together this plan. Either give one architect control to design something that will stun the world, and if not, then rebuild the towers.
Dear Friends!
I agree with all of you a 100%- World Trade Center shall be re-built and the money that otherwise is wasted and pocketed on the war in Middle East shall be put to build it. My opinion is: build the towers the way they were, in the middle of the complex make a Memorial to all people and hopes that perished on that land, and let all the artists from around the world donate their work, that expresses that artist’s 9/11 sorrow, to the Memorial. New York is an APPLE OF THE WORLD’S EYE.
I lived in Manhattan when the towers fell, and would love nothing more than to return once they are rebuilt. An odd looking structure meant to evoke the Statute of Liberty is just no substititute.
As a resident of NJ and former employee in tower 5 the events of 9/11 are forever scarred into my memory. I was able to see the towers from my classroom and as everyone in the area Seeing what happened that day was one of the worst events of my life. Now the thought of the Freedom tower and the other buildings saddens me. Please give us back our skyline, bring back the twin towers in all their glory
Gov. Spitzer: Please unravel all the red tape that Pataki has created. While he was making these decisions in a bubble, you have been on the outside (along with other New Yorkers and Americans). It is crystal clear what the people want and need.
When the people were charged with debris clean-up, it was done in record time. When the government was charged with rebuilding, all they could accomplish was petty quarreling and stalemates.
That hole in the ground is a colossal embarrassment to
The second biggest tragedy in NYC is that we aren’t rebuilding the WTC exactly as it was. It’s almost 6 years later and nothing has been built. Lets start building, but do it right and put back the Twin Towers.
Really exciting to know that getting our tours back is still possible. Let it be known, putting it back in place will send the strongest message to the world, and to the terrorists.
Just rebuild the towers EXACTLY as they were, no actually build them taller, and stop with the politically correct nonsense that is the main reason there is still a 16 acre hole in lower Manhatten..
We should not yield an inch to the perverted idology that destryoed the Twin Towers. What better wat to say we are united against the purveyers of wanton death and destruction than to rebuild what was destroyed.
I support the idea of rebuilding the original towers. The only thing better would be to build a third tower, or to build nothing on the site and make it a national park. Now that would be a proper use for eminent domain. But the current design is awful. Plus, to build some other structure on the very footprint of the towers seems disrespectful. Either rebuild the originals, or don’t build anything.
There can be no better testament to the indominable spirit of Americans generally and New Yorkers in particular than the rebuilding of the Twin Towers as they stood prior to 9/11. Perhaps 1 or 2 stories higher…
As Americans, we have the ability, ingenuity and the resources to rebuild two skyscrapers in substantially less time than it took the terrorists – who live in caves – to plan the attack that toppled them. It’s time to get to work!
The Twin towers were an economic & multicultural symbol of American freedom, tolerance, liberty, economic opportunity and prosperity. This is precisely why they were targeted. What better way to honor their memory than to rebuild the VERY SAME structures that the terrorists sought to destroy. This would show the terrorists that even the greatest depths of their hatred cant compare to the ingenuity and dedication of free peoples. Return the towers to our skyline!
The towers should be rebuilt bigger and better. That would be the ultimate slap in the face to every terrorist the world over. Let it be known that their efforts are futile; we will rebuild stronger than ever everytime!
If we could bring back everyone that lost their life that day, we wouldnt change a thing about them, would we? Why change the look of the buildings that stood there holding our city together? I AGREE…BRING THEM BACK JUST AS THEY WERE!!
Why this is up for debate is beyond my understanding. If someone lost a hand you don’t replace that hand with a foot right…… So why would you replace a iconic landmark known the world over with something else.
Over the years the twin towers has become almost as iconic as the statue of liberty or the empire state building it should be rebuilt to its former glory and stature.
I think the towers should be built as they were only stronger using modern technology. I don’t really care for any of the new designs. I would like to see the New york skyline as it once was.
Failure to rebuild the Twin Towers to AT LEAST THE SAME HEIGHT is a surrender to the wishes of the murderers and an acknowledgement that hostile alien Moslems have the right to veto New Yorkers having edifices of that height.
Courage and American patriotism require rebuilding the World Trade Center to AT LEAST THE FORMER HEIGHT.
Please rebuild what was there.
The Twin Towers – taller – bigger – stronger – nobler.
We Americans owe it to those lost that day and we deserve to have our towers back.
i am and always have been a new yorker, i’ve lived here all my life…
I was also part of the rescue/recovery effort.
it hurts my soul to think that they have made every effort not to rebuild the towers.
the first day down there in the utter chaos that was happening, most of us felt don’t let them win!!! rebuild, rebuild just the way they were and stronger and more prouder that ever.
DON’T LET THEM BE JUST A MEMORY
growing up in east village (alphabet city) i grew up looking at our skyline, those beautiful twin towers. from my room window i always had a clear view of the towers. which represents so much of everything positive in this great city and nation.the new plans for the world trade center do not give the site any justice, its a joke and a band-aid solution, it sucks.we should build back the twin towers better, taller and stronger. bring back the true beauty downtown manhattan was known for.
This seemed to me to be the obvious response to the attack. Rebuild. Maybe bigger. Maybe add a third tower. But rebuild. Show the world and each other how resilient we are. New Yorkers are used to all types of abuse. Yet we always get up and keep going. I’m glad to see that those of us who want to rebuild are finally organizing and speaking out.
I’ve lived in NY all of my life and worked at 7 WTC for 10 years. It breaks my heart to see what they want to build to replace the towers. The Twin Towers in the NY skyline are the symbol of NY. Replacing the Towers with the buildings they are proposing makes me truly sad. I feel like we’re admitting defeat and telling the terrorists that they won on that horrific day. The best tribute to the people we lost is to rebuild the Towers and show them that we are not broken or defeated.
We should rebuild the Twin Towers as they were, with stronger material of course. I think it would be a nice little F U to the animals that were responsible for their demise. Let’s show them and our Country how strong we really are as a nation! We’re back and we’re better than before!
about time someone stood up to this nonsense. I always said no new twin towers they win, we build new twin towers we get our pride back and we send a big middle finger to those terrorist.
Rebuilding one would be like being a one-legged cripple, admitting defeat and bowing to terrorists demands. Ponder for a moment if they would have wiped out Manhattan, would you build in its place a bunch of one-story buildings? Some very narrow-minded paranoid policy makers have made a serious mistake. Let’s change it now before it really is too late!
I vehemently agree with everyone here. There could be no better way to ’stick it’ to those terrorists. I for one would work there without thinking twice! In today’s day & age, we can build nicer, taller & more modern buildings. If it’s truly not too late, it’s time to grow a pair and build what everyone is asking for: ANOTHER TWIN TOWERS!
I beleive that we should rebuild the towers because, it will make us feel whole again as new yorkers. besides it is the right thing to do. please put them back.
I would love to be able to look at the skyline once again and see the two towers that once stood there. It would be such a calming vision with the twilight reflected off their sides and their outlines visible from so far away.
I always thought they would be there, like parents, friends, and loved ones. Just once I wished it wouldn’t be so and that they would be there long after I’m gone.
I won’t ever look in that direction again if the towers aren’t rebuilt. There’ll be nothing there to see.
Everyone I have spoken with is completely against this new, so called Freedom tower! The Twin Towers were a huge part of New York City and held a special meaning to all who viewed their grace, strength and symbolism. Build them stronger, taller and mightier.
They were a New York City and an American icon. Erecting any other building in their place will never be accepted, acknowledged and it is disgraceful. It’s like changing the Statue of Liberty. You simply can’t.
As I write this, it is now the sixth anniversary of that tragic day when so many innocent lives were taken. My heart will forever go out to the families and friends who lost their loved ones. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
WE SHOULD NOT ONLY BRING THE TOWERS BACK, WE SHOULD ADD ONE FLOOR EXTRA WITH RED WHITE AND BLUE LIGHTS AND NO OCCUPIED SPACE ON THAT FLOOR. THAT SHOULD BE THE MEMORIAL, AT THE TOP OF THE SKY. THAT’S NEW YORK! IT’S A SIN THESE TOWERS WERE NOT REBUILT. THERE SHOULD BE A PUBLIC REFERENDUM IN NEW YORK, IT’S OUR LANDSCAPE, WE WANT IT BACK. P.S. WHAT BETTER HEADSTONE FOR THE DECEASED VICTIMS THAN A TOWER????? I WOULD WANT THAT IF IT WERE ME. IN MEMORY OF LT. KEVIN DONNELLY AND MITCHELL WALLACE.
To rebuild the Twin Towers would be the best memorial to those who lost their lives and to the many thousands who still suffer the effects of that horrible, horrible day.
New, identical towers should be built but don’t necessarily need to be as high; what’s wrong with 80 or 90 floors? They would be much higher than anything around them and as beautiful as the originals. The twin towers created a danger of an accidental plane crash. The inner structure of the towers should be changed for better fireproofing and faster evacuation – not necessarily because of fear of another terror attack, but just for ordinary safety reasons.
I THINK THEY SHOULD REBUILD THE TOWERS BECAUSE THE 2 TOWERS SHOWED A SYMBOL OF UNITY,FREEDOM, ACCOMPLISHMENT,INTEGRITY OF THIS GREAT CITY OF N.Y.C AN ECONOMIC STRENGTH OF A UNITED NATIONS OF MILLIONS OF ETHNIC GROUPS,LANGUAGES,RACES,CULTURES,COUNTRIES UNITED AS ONE. AND AIN’T NO ONE GOING TO STEAL OUR FREEDOM THAT WE THE PEOPLE HAVE STRUGGLED TO ACQUIRE FOR MANY YEARS. WE NEED TO SHOW OUR STRENGTH AN DETERMINATION THAT WE ARE NOT GOING TO BE PUT DOWN BY WHAT WE WENT THRU PLUS WE’VE BEEN THRU WORSE.
The Romans knew how to respond when attacked or something was destroyed, they would build it again, but stonger and bigger. They never showed weakness, they knew what it would say to their enemies. Is there any real question what should be built again?
They changed the plans a couple of times already, what’s one more? 6 years later, and still not 1 above ground floor built yet. We can’t bring those lost on that day back, but we could rebuild the twin towers, bigger, stronger, maybe black like the Sears tower (both in defiance and remembrence). The Pentagon was rebuilt, why not WTC?
WE NEED SOME HIGH PROFILE, INFLUENTIAL HELP….MAYBE DONALD TRUMP WOULD RE-INTRODUCE HIS IDEA?
I firmly believe that if 9/11 had happened anywhere else in the world, the Twin Towers would have been rebuilt by now. I cannot understand the logic of building one tall tower as opposed to replacing the two that were there before. PLEASE REBUILD THE TWIN TOWERS.
I am a a New Yorker, my cousin is a Marine who has been to Iraq twice and my Uncle is a Fireman who was at 9/11 even though he is a Newark Fireman. This “Freedom Tower” is the stupidest idea I have ever seen. We need The Twin Towers put back the way they were. Nothing will show the terrorists how strong we our more then putting them back up Bigger then before. We need our two beloved Twin Towers back not this single Tower that looks like it was designed by the archaeologically retarded.
I think we should re-build the towers the way they were…only better. We should do this not only to make New York City New York City again, but to show ourselves AND the rest of the world..and especially the ones who did that terrible murderous act on September 11th, 2001 that we are proud and resilient! Its the way it outta be.
I can’t think of any better memorial to the victims and families all the emergancy workers……all affected by that day, than to drive down the west side highway and see those buildings again. you can’t bring the victims back, but in my opinion you could in some way by seeing those buildings, the best in the city, country and possibly the world. Not even the petronas towers in malaysia are as breath taking (just my opinon). I wrote at the site last year on the wall BRING THE TOWERS BACK!!!!!!!!!
I thoroughly support the re-building of the twin towers. They were a source of American pride and should be rebuilt. I watched them errected from my kitchen window and I watched them burn for days. The Manhattan skyline is just “sad” to look at now. Building anything less is an insult to those who died there. I’m sure all New Yorkers feel the same.
I do New York city photography and had photographed the Twins Towers as much as anybody else in the world hence my feelings for them. I very strongly feel by building them exactly the way they were would let us reclaim our city and heal wounds of the 9/11. The Towers were the gateway to USA for people coming from far and wide. They annouced their arrival to the New World!
Rising majestically into the skies they defined not just a city but a whole country! Let’s bring them back.
The Twin Towers were my favorite and most beloved buildings in this city and my heart was broken on 9/11, for the towers and for those who lost their lives. I want these towers to be rebuilt just as they were, perhaps with modifications to prevent collapse should the terrorists strike again. Rebuild the Twin Towers NOW!
I am a native NYer and i was there at 911 and I will never forget the sight of thousands of NYers walking up park ave looking stunned and dazed, a real 3rd world sight we are Americans and NYers and we are tough, and gritty, we need to rebuild the towers and not cower we need to send a message loud and clear that we are not afraid but rather we are one in our resistance to tyranny and fear, we are all one city and nation unafraid and undaunted as we face an islamic tyranny not one of choice
I am a born and raised New Yorker and only recently moved to New Jersey. I’ll never forget how I marveled at the WTC when I was younger and how impressive the site was to me. I can’t imagine having future generations missing out on this experience and I honestly think we should strengthen the experience. Let’s make the towers taller and stronger! I say make the towers 2001 feet tall for the year they encountered their biggest challenge that they still overcame. It would show America’s resolve.
TTA Note: The signature that followed this one had to be removed, because the email address provided did not exist. We value every signature, but above all, we value the veracity of our list.
The Freedom Tower does no justice to the victims of 9/11. It only points out the pervasive weakness in America. I was only a child when 9/11 happened, but I remember taking pride in those buildings. They exuded power and warmth. The Freedom Tower leaves me cold. Rebuild the Twin Towers so that we can show our strength again.
While they will never be the same I need something to show my children, something that shows nothing good comes from backing down. These buildings while they resided in NY belonged to AMERICA and they should stand tall again.
The twin towers should be rebuilt as they were originally. It represents freedom… also shows the world that we are strong…and we comeback stronger than ever.
The World Trade Center meant and still means a lot to me, but i would have loved to get a chance to go shopping in there and also going to the observation deck and and also going to windows on the world and eating a nice quality meal and it looked awesome in ny skyline and ground zero and it meant world trade and peace and they were a nice simple design and they brought a lot of business in nyc
I Love the Twin Towers! The WTC site is nothing without them. Get everyone to do the Twin Towers 2 design by ken gardner im sure Larry silverstein would go for it! But yes Were America and we will stand tall for what we believe in which is bigger safer stronger Twin Towers!
Yes. This is exactly what I thought everyone would do without debate.
Think of the result of not rebuilding:
Every time we look at a picture of New York, we will think “Pre 9/11” vs “Post 9/11”. If we do not restore the skyline we in effect create a perpetual advertisement for the success of the terrorist attack. A propaganda piece that will last forever.
For us New Yorkers who navigated by the Towers the restoration will produce stronger healing.
Of course we will not forget and cannot forget but the new towers cannot and should not be identical. The upgrade would be like a well healed wound, the pain of the negative space of the towers would be gone, with the small difference remaining as a scar of the painful event we have recovered from, but never can completely erase.
It does not encourage terrorists, to the contrary. (We didn’t leave the hole in the Pentagon did we?) Instead it proves that terrorist cannot destroy America’s iconic structures because unlike the Pyramids they are part of a living society, the vacuum that destroying these buildings created naturally will result in the same building raising again. Ultimately then the terrorists will not have knocked down the Towers they only will have accelerated their upgrade.
Graham Poor
Born and raised in Manhattan now living in Mountain View CA.
Make New York look like New York. Build the towers back. If you must change them, make them taller or add a sky bridge between them. The current Freedom Tower design is beyond diappointing.
The only high rises that should be built on the wtc site should be nothing other than twin towers! The freedom tower design is cute, but everything it stands for, from it’s name to it’s conception is nothing more than an unfunny political joke! We have wasted enough time on the planned failure, it’s time to build what the people want!
Rebuild the towers bigger and better than before. Twin Towers II will be the biggest symbol of defeat to the terrorists that destroyed the original towers. The freedom tower would be a victory for the terrorists.
The twin towers of the WTC were not just buildings to me but a symbol of solidarity, stability, innovation and most of all of home. I grew up watching the towers rise from across the river and I never shed my sense of wonder at their power and greatness. As I grew older they were always welcoming like an old friend greeting you and letting you know you were back in that place where you belonged. When my first son was born his bedroom window looked out onto the river and the towers loomed brig
The twin towers site leaves a hole in my heart . i grew up watching them being built, and lost several friends on 9/11. I believe we must rebuild while making sure to respect those lost.
My heart is full with emotion as I type…. I moved from NY (Bronx) to Florida in 2002, I was there when it all happened, I think I speak for my self and new yorkers….. rebuilding the towers will definetly bring some much needed healing to our hearts. Rebuild the towers, let’s let the world know our souls were shattered by a bunch of cowards on 9/11… but we are the greatest nation in the world and we are back, we are not afraid! and there will be twin towers again, GO TWIN TOWERS II!
I would love to see those towers back on the skyline. It would make NYC feel like NYC again. It would restate the city’s power, fearless strength and healing.
I am glad they have stopped construction on two of the towers in the present design. Now we have a real chance of seeing these buildings become a reality.
The Twin Towers have become synonymous to New York City. After 9/11, we were told not to let terror control us and to go about our lives as normal. But how can things ever be truly normal when the skyline is still incomplete? Rebuilding the towers would be the biggest sign to the world that New York and America will not let evil destroy us. Also, a memorial dedicated to the thousands of individuals lost that day, their stories and the artifacts crafted by families to honor them in the WTC site.
Bring back the original towers! The Freedom Tower is almost an insult, not only to the original design, but to the men and women who were murdered on 9/11. Rebuilding the towers as they were, in fact bigger and better, is the only fitting tribute.
They NEED to bring back the Twin Towers. The Freedom Tower is going to RUIN the look of New York City, and it is an INSULT to this City! The skyline wont look right with the Freedom tower in place. Now imagine, a skyline with some UGLY GLASS TOWER sticking out like a SORE THUMB! I, for one, support this plan to bring back the Twin Towers, and I would be pissed off if they build the Freedom Tower. It just doesn’t look right, especially for Manhattan, so support this plan and sign the petiton. -R
Having been born and raised in the city, the towers were always an icon of the majesty of scope of life in New York. I remember looking up in awe at them as a boy and as an adult, being comforted by seeing them from almost any point on the streets of the city. Since they’ve been gone, things haven’t been the same. I lost a cousin, a firefighter, in the towers and I know he would want them back the way they were.
It’s time for the families and the bureaucracy to step aside and bring the towers back.
I love New York and believe the original towers should be rebuilt with appropriate safety measures. NYC people will ALWAYS prevail and can will continue to rise above what happened in 2001.
I would LOVE to see those two buildings re-built!
The Twin Towers is what makes New York what it is! Re-building them is the right thing to do! Don’t let the terrorists win, And as for the freedom tower? Scrap it! It’s an odd looking building that doesn’t belong in New York. Doesn’t fit in with the rest of the buildings, it doesn’t look good! Everyone wants the Twin Towers rebuilt. So do all the New Yorkers a favor and put the Twin Towers back were they belong! Make it happen!
That horrible Freedom Tower design is a sorry replacement for our Towers. We would be sending those responsible for that day a big F.U. by rebuilding the WTC as it was.
The New York skyline, and the city in general would be far better off without the “Fear Tower” serving as both a massive white flag in the face of our enemies and as an eyesore that does no justice to what this great city is really all about. I honestly cannot express more support in only a few words….please, PLEASE help to get the towers rebuilt. New York City and America as well will be better off for it.
I don’t believe that we should be living in a state of paranoia or fear that this could happen again. If it will, then it will regardless of whether or not we restore the buildings to their former splendor or create a gigantic concrete structure that looks horrible and instills a quiet air of hostility to the people that have to walk by it every day. Give us a building, or rather a pair of them, that we can be proud of as New Yorkers.
This would be a symbolic effort to rebuild our great democracy — please restore the twin towers. It would help our nation heal. This would also be a step toward Truth and Reconciliation; please re-investigate 9/11! The truth shall set you free. No more lies. No more war.
This is our country! Why are we letting such a small group of people make such a large decision for the whole country. I have seen the proposed plans to build back the towers bigger & stronger than before. I think they are the best plans I have seen so far for the WTC site. The freedom tower is not very impressive. The WTC site is more than 16 acres it is still not late to build these landmarks & symbols of America back where they belong.
Rebuild the Towers exactly the way they stood in 2001. That would be the ultimate memorial to the many who died on that day. The cowards who did this to us should be denied the satisfaction of changing the skyline of New York forever. Every time I look at the NY skyline and see the void where the Towers were, I remember this cowardly attack. We should fix this and return the Towers to their glory. That would be a huge slap in the face for these idiot terrorists.
Rebuild the original Twin Towers not some space age modern nightmare. The Twin Towers were New York and that’s what should be in that area with respectful space provided for the friends, families, and co-workers we lost.
I refuse to accept the fact that the government is gonna replace our Twin Towers w/ the overbudget Freedom Tower cause some other culture filled with evil destroyed the Twin Towers.
The only right thing to do is rebuild the twin towers. Bigger and stronger than before! That’s the american way. It’s definitely the new york way! We can’t replace the towers with something that is “less than” what was originally there. The “freedom” tower is much less than the twin towers.
God I want my twin towers back. I was a child in the late 1970s. And a teenager in the 1980s. I grew up with the twin towers. I loved them. My heart broke on 9/11. And my heart still aches not seeing those buidlings today. I saw the interview of Chris Ward on 1600. Where is his courage? His Honor for those who died there? He’s a coward. Allowing Bin Laden and Al Qaeda to dictate what is built in NY. Bring back my twin towers. Heal my heart. If the FT is built my heart will forever be broken.
Rebuild the Twin Towers. Any other project for that land mass in Lower Manhattan is unacceptable and will waste space and money for the next century. Do the right thing, rebuild the towers for the next generation to know what we stood for.
REBUILD THE TWIN TOWERS, BUT STRONGER & TALLER THAN BEFORE! RESTORE MANHATTAN’S SKYLINE TO ITS RIGHTFUL HONOR & PROVE TO THE TERRORISTS THAT THEY CAN NEVER BREAK THE AMERICAN SPIRIT!
The only way to rebuild the World Trade Center is to have the twin towers once again even if they have to be placed 300 feet to the east of the original twin towers. New technology can make the new twin towers than the original ones. New twin towers will send a statement to terrorists saying we put back up what you knocked down.
The Twin Towers must be re-built exactly as they looked before the attacks in memory of those who died needlessly. If not, then the terrorists have won. The replacement Freedom Tower is unnecessary and with the recession, has no place in downtown Manhattan. I always loved to visit the outside deck on the 110th Floor. The new Tower would have no such outdoor deck as an observatory. The proposed observatory will have glass that reflects lights and will offer a poor view.
I lived in new york for 13 yrs.. enjoyed going to the city and showing relatives each year we were visited how amazing and beautiful the towers were. My family and i were heart broken on sept 11 of 2001. Not being american but for sure american residents we love the united states and love new york city! Lets bring back those enjoying towers and make the new york city that everyone loves!
The Twin Towers should be resurrected as a tribute to everyone who was lost during 9/11 as well as a nod to all the heroes of the NYPD and FDNY. Stop wasting MILLIONS of OUR tax dollars to fund some project designed by some mediocre architect that is costing us more than we can afford. We as Americans should be able to rebuild and rebuild correctly.
THE TWIN TOWERS MADE US NEW YORKERS HAVE A CERTAIN TYPE OF PRIDE KNOWING THAT EVERY MORNING GOING TO SCHOOL OR GOING TO WORK U COULD SEE THEM FROM FAR AWAY AND KNOWING THAT ITS IN YOUR CITY. I WAS RAISED SEEING THOSE 2 BEAUTIFUL BUILDINGS TALKING ABOUT THEM AND ADMIRING HOW MAN CAN BUILD SOMETHING LIKE THAT. SO I THINK BRINGING THEM BACK WILL BRING NEW YORK AND AMERICAN PRIDE BACK INTO ALL OF OUR HEARTS AND SHOW THAT WE COME BACK STRONG.
To not rebuild these towers as they were is a national disgrace! They represent all that is mighty and powerful with this great city and reflect the spirit of the USA. Please, enough is enough……REBUILD THE TWIN TOWERS NOW!
I’m all in for rebuilding the Twin Towers, however, I don’t feel that building a New York/American Icon across the Hudson is the right idea. I would love to see the Twin Towers rise up from the ashes of Ground Zero but the PA doesn’t, Unless a miracle happens and they dismantle the “Freedom Tower” complex in favor of TTII. There is the idea of filling in parts of the hudson near the WFC to build twin towers II to complement the skyline. I’m all for restoring the Twin Towers, but in New York.
I saw the whole thing on that morning and from the beginning I’ve wanted the towers rebuilt, but bigger and stronger. I was appalled by the so-called Freedom Tower’s design, and I am disgusted with the ridiculous construction delays at the WTC. I want to see Lower Manhattan the way it used to be.
I too want the towers built. I have photographs of the World Trade Center all over my home and have made my own memorials around the house. I usually can’t wait for night fall because that’s when I enjoy and turn on all the lights and tributes I’ve made here. I even have a lamp in my window that’s built like the Twin Towers and I’ve placed it there so when I turn on the lamp at night the second towers reflects in the window and I have my towers back. 6th floor of 295 Park Ave So. Take a look.
I want to see the original twin towers rebuilt, but they should be built even bigger than they were before. The new design is ugly and stupid, and Silverstein should step down because he’s done a horrible job. Why doesn’t Trump buy him out and just build his twin towers proposal? I think he should if he can, he definitely has the money for it. Please rebuild the towers bigger and better! It’s the best way to stick it to those bastard terrorists.
I think that the Twin Towers should be rebuilt. They were our strongest symbol of freedom and now more then ever they would represent that our city and nation is stronger and and better than ever and also they would serve as a tribute to the ones who lost their lives. I don’t understnad if 94 percent of the population want them back including myself, why they are doing the opposite of wht we want. I love the new twin towers by Kenneth Gardener.
We must rebuild the twin towers if our city is to retain its greatness in the world. We live in a vertical city and to not have those towers is a painful reminder of a glory we had once achieved. Without those towers we have lost that glory and pride of place in our city and have been defeated by the terrorists and enemies of a free and open society. We need them both physically and psychologically as well as economically, in the long run, for our city to remain a great financial capital.
To all the great citizens of New York, while driving in an around your city, delivering product from wisconsin, I have admired many beautiful structures, within your city. However, the twin towers have always looked so very special. As I live a mere 900 miles away, I can still feel the emptyness and void that will never come back, as long as the w.t.c. towers are gone. We must do the right thing, to show the rest of the world, even if by example, that we will not cower in the face of our enemies.
I’ve been to the twin towers maybe twice in my lifetime but, they have always been a majestic part of our skyline. I miss seeing them on the Q train going over the Mannie B. Heck, I miss seeing them…period. I say, if you want to bring our economy back to where it was back then, rebuild the towers. There was no freedom tower back then, was there? No! There were the twin towers.
New York has not been the same since 9-11. The idea of a freedom tower is just not enough. We have been delt a heavy blow one which had the people of our city depressed for a long time. The twin towers were iconic to NYC. Without them there’s an nasty scar on the face of our skyline. Anything else we build would just be cheap make-up trying to mask the scar. We know all the weaknesses of our lost Twin Towers. We CAN make them Taller, Stronger, Safer & more efficient than ever before. We should!
The current Silverstein plan only seems to accept that the U.S. has failed to defend its confidence and integrity. With a slumping economy and a unforeseen future the best we can do to get ourselves back on a healthy track is to revitalize Lower Manhattan, a.k.a. Financial Capital of the World, and lead the way to a robust America. By rebuilding the Twin Towers, we are showing the world that we are stronger. It would be more cost effective to rebuild the Twin Towers that complement the current “One World Trade Center†rendering. Silverstein and the Port Authority should consider dumping Towers 2, 3, 4 and build a second “One World Trade Center†adjacent to the current one being built. You can then add smaller buildings surrounding the complex and keep the current memorial design intact. People would be able to view the memorial from a greater distance and appreciate stronger and safer Twin Towers. As current Towers 2, 3, 4 are disputed, we can easily rebuild Twin Towers. Yes We Can!!
I know they started the new one already, but it would have been much more special to rebuild the twin towers. Would be more symbolic. I still support this.
I was fortunate to go inside the World Trade Center two times in my entire life. Both of those times I was a toddler in a stroller. To this day I always think about symbolism it had on the city, Empire state, Statue of liberty and the Twin towers. I agree with building the towers to make the city, the city again.
Thank you for posting my piece as “The Best Tribute Ever.”
Let’s keep up the efforts to have “the right thing” done to that sacred site. This is predominately OUR issue and it will fall on US to make things happen.
Far too much time has elapsed. It has become an insult to the victims, survivors and families.
Rebuild The Twin Towers as they were, a little taller maybe, with much improved safety designs and exits, and a defense system, and bring back our skyline, our spirit, and show we won’t be brought down.
I would just like to say that I am very upset the city and state of New York decided to build The Freedom Tower instead of rebuilding The Twin Towers. The Governor and Mayor lied to the American people when they said the people and families of 9/11 victims did not want the Twin Towers to be rebuilt. They lied and they are building on public property something that I do not want at all. I am a New Yorker since I was born in 1978 and I still live in this great city. I was so devastated by September 11th and I am even more devastated and upset the towers were not rebuilt.
ny is strong and will rebuild but the lives lost we will forever remember! the innocent people the men and women who fought for our rights will always be in our hearts and thoughts forever!!! too have soo much love for strangers will be a big part in rebuilding our NY never will we back down to the attackers we will overcome all of it!!!!! we are family
The Freedom tower is absolutely nothing. The Twin Towers made downtown Manhattan into what it is. They made impact like no other tower. If New Yorkers can destroy baseball stadiums and rebuild new ones, the same should go for World Trade Center. Give an opportunity to those who never got a chance to feel the Twin Towers experience.
The Freedom Tower will not heal the skyline! There is still a hole in my heart after 9/11! We want the Twin Towers rebuilt but stronger than ever! The people originally wanted to Twin Towers rebuilt! Everybody wants those icons back in the skyline the way they were but stronger! The Twin Towers 2 project will give respect and honor those that have died on September 11, 2001! That is the only memorial we can give to the victims and their families!
I participated in the circus that resulted in the current plans for Ground Zero, such as the Listening to the City events in which no one listened to anyone. The officials involved have never cared what the people wanted or what was best for this city. We must rebuild the Twin Towers or else our city will always have a glaring hole in its skyline, no matter what else might be put there.
As a fellow New Yorker, it pains me to see just how corrupt this government is but we have to keep on going forward!! Rebuild the world trade center!! Investigate 911!!! There’s too many hidden clues that nobody realizes!
My feelings now, are as resolute since 9/11. RE/BUILD THE TWIN TOWERS….better, stronger, safer. I cannot imagine a more just, more New York, more American response to the epic devastation we will forever feel, than saying to the world:
“If you knock us down, we will get back up.”
There is a light and the end of this tunnel.
It shines for all to follow.
It is a beacon from within.
A reminder of where we have been.
A glimpse of where we are going.
A journey we are all a part.
Keep moving.

TTA Note: The verse above is part of a 9/11 Memorial design and the link is to the LMDC entry. A great deal of thought, heart, and time clearly went into it. Multiplying that effort by the thousands of entries and then looking at what the “experts” chose is proof-positive that the “Memorial Jury” was not a jury of our peers.
Two of the greatest buildings in the world, captured the spirit of New York and I’m forever filled with memories of them in my skyline. However unlikely, let’s bring them back.
My mom supports rebuilding the Twin Towers. So do I. I want this city to be the city it was when the towers were still standing. Please do whatever you can and I would like the towers to be rebuilt. I know most of us will be dead by the time the towers are reconstructed, if that’s what the government and the state decide to do. I am only 12, but I love the way New York looked when the towers were standing and I would love for it to look like that again.
Rebuild the twin towers as they were, put a statue, a wall with the names of the dead etched on it, and a memorial garden. Not the eye sore we’re going to get.
we need to have our towers back. 1 wtc does absolutely nothing for the skyline and sends a statement that we are willing to compromise for something less ……
I wasn’t born in NY, however, I moved here in November 1993. I have lived in NY and worked here in the financial industry from ’93 to ’01; therefore the iconic World Trade Center was always in my view (as it was, for so many others). How many times I had been in an out of the trade center for interviews, meetings, drinks, shopping, etc. It truly became a staple for everyone. Imagine, if you will for a moment, losing Central Park and then the city officials replacing it with some condominiums and a small pond with a few trees; New Yorkers would be outraged! New Yorkers and fellow Americans deserve to be heard (it is and continues to be a NY staple) and treated with respect and compassion. The Twin Towers should RISE AGAIN and grace the New York skyline, once again!
Are you kidding me? Dubai is building the worlds largest building? Yeah…with our US Dollars for middle eastern Oil..With all due respect…we should be building the towers larger and taller than anything else…if an attack comes again it will happen whether it is a 20 story building or 200….rebuild them taLLer and and biGGer than ever before..that will give us all everything we have been missing ever since that horrific day….it will give us our New York back..our beliefs…our everything….Build them again…build them again…build them again.
God Bless all those who have perished…we’ll all be together one day again.
The Twin Towers were the New York skyline, they are the iconic symbols of what makes America. They were taken from us along with many innocent lives. We cannot replace people nor can we replace icons. By rebuilding the Twin Towers we honor those we have lost, as well as honor all the brave men and women defending our freedom, showing the world our resilience in overcoming tragedy with rebirth and renewal. The Twin Towers were taken from us, they would still be here as the New York skyline had 9-11 not happened, as would the thousands of loved ones we lost. It is time and has been time we bring back our Twin Towers, moving on to our future by staying true to our past.
The Twin Towers were historic landmarks in the greatest city in the world. New York City isn’t the same without our Two Brothers standing tall and firm. As a memorial to all those lost I strongly believe the Twin Towers should be rebuilt. It shows the world that we’re courageous and we don’t back down. When we fall, we get back up. We don’t send someone else in to take our place (Freedom Tower). We will never get back all the innocent lives lost on that horrible gloomy day but we can honor them by showing them we will not be defeated. New York City is a brave city. Let’s prove it by picking our brothers back up and having them stand tall and proud once again.
Thank you very much for creating this petition to rebuild the great Twin Towers. Twenty years ago I was so fortunate to go there, to see its memorable architecture and its million dollar views. They always had a commanding presence, representing the greatness of New York City and the USA. These magnificent buildings MUST be rebuilt to show the world that we are stronger than EVER!
As a child I always admired The Twin Towers. They were the pride and joy of the United States of America but the heart and soul of my fellow New Yorkers and I. I always wanted my dad to take me to see the towers at night. I remember riding the Staten Island Ferry just to watch those beautiful towers beam. The Twin Towers played a significant role in my childhood, my heart was extremely broken on 9/11/01. I would love to see those towers that once graced our NYC skyline standing where they stood 11 1/2 years ago. This One WTC is an epic disgrace to Americans, tourists, 9/11 families and NYC residents. Please Rebuild The Twin Towers.
The Freedom tower is absolutely nothing. The Twin Towers made New York City period! The Freedom tower will not heal New York City’s skyline. The attacks stabbed a huge whole in everyones heart which is unable to heal if the Twin Towers can’t be rebuilt. We as Americans need to come back bigger and stronger.
That single tower doesn’t “symbolize” anything in my opinion. Except, well perhaps we ran out of money and couldn’t afford to build a second tower. They should have built Twin Towers from the start!
The Freedom Tower was a capitulation to the terrorists. They were determined to eliminate the twin towers as a symbol of the United States, making two major attempts, and in the end, they got what they wanted. Having two, huge twin towers on the skyline was so striking, impressive, and iconic, as opposed to just adding some more skyscrapers. Rebuilding the World Trade Center as it was, except bigger and better, would have been the most fitting memorial and sent the most powerful message of resiliency and determination.
The new One World Trade Center, in my opinion, is not an icon but simply another skyscraper in New York. Worse, if you look at it from the right angle it tapers in a very ugly manner. I do believe that the Twin Towers should be rebuilt better, taller, and stronger. It would leave a lasting image if our country and city’s resilience, and honor those who died on 9/11.
Please rebuild them. Because they were My TWINS TOO!! TO Show them that nothing will ever break US or Tear US Apart. That is Right The US!
Tanya Renay Marinelli
I was too young to remember when the towers fell down in 2001. When I learned about what New York used to be with the Twin Towers, I was stunned. Now as a young adult, I kind of wish the towers were still standing as I view them as beautiful landmarks that fulfill the NYC skyline. I just wish the 9/11 attacks never happened cause now I have to live in this new reality which sucks. The current 1WTC sucks as it only covers parts of that gap. It doesn’t feel even feel the same. I believe a solution to that is to build a second twin tower at the 2WTC but who knows. Twin Towers II would have been a perfect solution but it was those corporate sums that wanted their way and didn’t want to listen to the voices. I hope to see these towers in some way someday.
I was born in 2004 so by that time the towers were already gone. In school however they still had old pictures of the once glorious skyline, and as a young child I always wondered why they took them away.
The original Twin Towers should be rebuilt in beautiful glass and same height as the old ones!
The current one WTC might look good in a different part of NYC but not at ground zero!
The design of the new 2 WTC proposal is an insult to all Americans and needs to be scrapped! Putting a building that looks like boxes falling over next to 1 WTC that looks like a pyramid would be ultimate insult!
We were robbed of those two beautiful magnificent buildings. They were more then just two buildings they were castles in the sky that housed our special cargo all our beautiful people. Twins rest in peace.
As an Architect and engineer practicing in New Yrok city for more than 37 years I have grown to know that the Twins were as modernism should be. That’s to say the most efficient buildings ever built. If the Towers were there today they would undoubtedly be considered for renovation into Eco-Hospitals. At 2 acres yielding 220 that’s a must. So the towers will be back and it will start with smaller versions. Please see my gofundme and click the read more for details. The Free World needs the Twin Towers back where they belong.
We need this twin towers. Mr. Trump, where are you when we need your help?
The so-called “Freedom Tower” is a cruel joke. Don’t let that abomination be built! Restore the Towers!
The Twin Towers deserve to be brought back to where they belong. The Freedom Tower symbolizes nothing but a victory for Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda. As a native of Israel, the Freedom Tower is a shot in the foot when it comes to defying terrorism.
The terrorists attacked the Twin Towers but it was the politicians that took them away from us.
“Rebuild the Towers”!
The Ground Zero isn’t sacred ground–it’s DEFILED GROUND. To deny this is to deny reality. Plain and simple. And shall maintain that status until the Twin Towers are restored. G-d bless those lost. G-d bless America.
“In an age of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” – George Orwell
Rebuild !!
Hi,
As a musician, I have many friends that live in that area. I hope we can rebuild the towers.
Thanks,
Ken Richardson
I worked at the WTC for 30 years. They should be rebuilt, better and higher.
Twice as tall.
Put the towers back the way they were, period..
Rebuilding the Twins would send a bold message of defiance to the 9/11 murderers from an aroused America, but NOT rebuilding them means we will let the killers dictate what our skyline will look like for the next hundred years or more. NUTS TO THAT!
I’d work on the 110th floor. Heck, I might commit a felony to get to work on the 110th floor.
the twin towers should be rebuilt–nothing else would fill the void that they left.Anything else would be a permanent reminder of what had been lost–not just the lives of those so monstrously taken, but the resolve and courage of all our heroes.
A good friend of mine worked in the WTC and tragically lost his life. He was engaged to be married October 20, 2001
Rebuild the Twin Towers. There is no compelling reason why anything less should be part of the New York City skyline. We have the greatest city in the world, and must not settle for less.
I dream of seeing those buildings standing again. That would be a victory in itself.
I worked in WTC for 4 yrs. They are the happiest years of my life. I want the twin towers back. Not just for nostalgic reasons, but also it makes perfect sense after seeing the ugly alternatives offered to be built there. NYC skyline needs twintowers.
we should build them bigger and higher. That is the real tribute to the victims and their families.
please rebuild ! we need to see those towers standing taller then ever for the people who lost their lives ! for our country to stand tall and to show them ,that we are the greatest country in the world and the greatest city in the usa~twin towers 4e
We need to rebuild the Towers. These buildings embodied the NY Skyline, as well as were my work “home” for a few years. I am proud to say I worked there, and hope that I have the opportunity to say: “I am working there again.” God Bless this coun
Make them the tallest buildings in the world!!!
Rebuild them, bigger and better!
NY student and TX resident
Bring them back the way they were, just stronger and safer!
We want our skyline back!
U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Midshipman
How can you look out at the skyline and not think of what happened? If we don’t rebuild, we are not the land of the free.
Let’s not have the victims name go in vain. Politics and greed have already got in the way of rebuilding.
Rebuilding the World Trade Center will be a fitting tribute for the people who died that day. As Americans, We can’t make the terrorists win over this country. We need to stand up as one nation show to the world that we can overcome 9-11 and rebuild
ANYTHING LESS THEN WHAT WAS THERE ON 9/10/01 WOULD BE A VICTORY FOR OUR ENEMIES. CURT VIGNERI
History will view the failure to reconstruct the towers as the key event in the decline of New York from the worldís most dynamic and resilient metropolis to one which, like ancient Rome, became increasingly irrelevant.
To allow Ossama to change our
landscape is ridiculous.
Only rebuilding the twin towers
will wipe out the affront done
to us.
I have many pictures of the towers hanging in my home. They have been hanging since before 9/11. My father and I both worked in WTCI. It is heart breaking to look at the downtown skyline and to not see those majestic towers.
Put the Towers back as they were one foot taller.
We’ve suffered long enough!
Let’s stop embarrassing ourselves with allowing politicians to attempt to create their own legacy when our (USA) legacy is so much more important//jdc
Rebuild! Rebuild!
This is not about office space or urban planning. This is about taking a beating and refusing to go down. Surrounded by the Nazis at Bastonge, facing imminent death, General McAuliffe simply replied “nuts.” That’s the American spirit we need here.
New York is not what it used to be. I have recently moved to Florida. I have vowed that if the twin towers are rebuilt, I will move back to NYC.
I don’t think we as Americans should let yellow-bellied impetuous terrorists have the upper hand in this tragedy.
Let us show our strength by unification into this venture by signing this proposal as a show of strength and defiance to coward
Let’s get moving on ths project, NOW
Put those towers back and make them a symbol of what they “stand” for once again!!
WEVE GOTTA GET THEM BACK UP–AND WHERE THEY BELONG!!!!!
I LIV IN DWNTWN BRKLYN–WE GOT ALL THE ASH AND BURNT PAPERS–IT REEKED FOR WEEKS—REBULD THEM—AND WHERE THEY BELONG//
please, give this great city its balance back, and rebuild America’s spine in the process!
Yes lets continue to rebuild the Twin Towers. Its a great idea.
Time to stop the politicking. Get them built. Get Trump to do it, even. Whatever. Just get ’em back up.
Rebuild exactly the same but higher.
Our security and armed forces will never allow such an attachk again and this shows more than anything that evil and hatred will not be a force to subdue freedom and goodness.
Please do this. It is the only answer that 100 years from now will make our grandchildren proud.
Improve the original design and rebuild our towers!
if i win the lotto, i going to file a lawsuit stopping anything from being built at wtc site unless its the TWIN TOWERS!!
The Freedom Tower is a travesty. I beleive the way to show our reslove as a nation and to honor those who have fallen is to search our souls, reach into the sky and rebuild the Towers as they stood on Sept. 10, 2001.
please put the towers back as they were and add a small memorial. its the best option.
Enough Already !
What we New Yorkers need right now is to have Donald Trump get started on the New Twin Towers. Not have them will forever remind us and the world what once stood there.
I want my towers back ! !
Rebuild them stronger and taller and show our ememies that they can’t defeat us!
Please push new twin towers in the name of the people of NYC and the Nation. The Nation wants the towers rebuilt only maybe a little higher.
RAD
The towers should be as they were standing before, only stronger.
Time to make the silent majority heard.
I would love to see NYC with the Twin Towers back.
Restore WTC!!
please rebuild the towers!
The towers should be rebuilt. Nothing else deserves to be there.
Bring them back!
I would love nothing more than to see the Twin Towers back up!!! Nothing else comes close. The freedam tower is sooo pale in comparison. Let’s show the world how strong and resiliant us New Yorkers really are!!!
Bring back the Twin Towers!!!
In the name of all that is Holy, rebuild the towers!!!
RE-BUILD DAMN IT!
REBUILD THEM,…WE WILL NOT BACK DOWN. WE WILL NOT BOW DOWN TO COWARDLY TERRORIST TACTICS. NEVER !
To be in Downtown Manhattan is heartbreaking and it will always be. Whatever other building would stand at the World Trade Center Site- it will always be a building standing “where the Twin Towers used to be”, always a sad replacement.
The Towers were unique, as New York is. So many of us would rejoice in the rebuilding. An honorable way to pay respect to the fallen.
Rebuild the towers one story higher.
It should defintiely rebuilt!!!
The same twin towers, only a little higher.
The tragic victims would want nothing less, otherwise their deaths were in vain. I would be honored to work in the new Twin Towers.
Carol Shurman
Anyone remember the law of causality?
Anything less than two, idenitcal, massive, clean-linned skyscrapers that soar to unprecedented heights will invite more attacks.
Rebuild them as they were in their grand beauty, and stronger and sturdier!
Rebuilding the WTC as it was is the best idea for the area, and sends a clear message to terrorists that we shall overcome.
Don’t let the SOB’s win. Rebuild the towers!
It make the US look very weak if the don’t rebuild the towers.
We should not have a hole in the ground. The towers should have been replaced as they were before 9/11
Rebuild this beautiful and vibrant NYC landmark with reinforced concrete.
Put the heart back into lower Manhattan.
Retired FDNY. Saw them built. Saw them fall. Dug and cried.
Rebuild them with pride and remember all those that lost their lives, may they never be forgotten!
r
Bring the skyline back to NYC
This is a great idea.
Rebuild, replacing shouldn’t even be an option.
NYC does not look the same without the Twin Towers. I hope one day I could see the new and improved Twin Towers from a far view once again.
keep up the fight…
Build better and taller than before
The face of our city has since been destroyed, the moment those beloved towers fell to the ground.
Please rebuild the twin towers as they were!
Amen!
Let’s do something constructive now, it has been way to long without any concrete evidence of progress.
there is only one way to truly heal the nyc skyline & america’s heart: rebuild the twin towers, bigger n better than ever !! just do it….do it now !!!
Even if we don’t replace the twin towers in kind, they should build a twin for the Freedom Tower.
This is a wonderful web site. I learned about it from an article in the New York Sun. You need to find other ways to publicize it, so a groundswell can be created to rebuild the towers.
NO to any new projects! Rebuild Twins!
Native New Yorker,
Williamson Henderson
Maybe not an exact replica but something close that restores the skyline and the planning principles espoused by the likes of Jane Jacobs. The Freedom Tower is contrived like Freedom Fries or the rantings of a commentator on Fox.
The best possible solution.
New Yorkers DO NOT want that piece of garbage
called the “freedom tower”
We want our towers back
the way they were
Show These terrorist SCUM they are all FAILURES
and REBUILD THE TOWERS NOW!
Rebuild!
I would like to see the skyline retuned to the stunning image I use to see from my home in Brooklyn.
If we really want to “get on with it” let’s do it and get on with it!
I wouldn’t have known about this petition if not for the wonderful Alicia Colon of the New York Sun. So: Yes, rebuild them!
I saw the Towers built, watched them go up from what seemed like the bowels of the earth to touch the sky. We must rebuild them exactly, but stronger, better and one story higher. Would that some day I will again dine at Windows on the World. The only memorial should be the towers back and beautiful.
Bring them back
Rebuild ASAP.
Thank you.
“I hope that real love and truth are stronger in the end than any evil or misfortune in the world.”
-Charles Dickens
Let Trump build it and get the rest of these graft-taking incompetents ninnies out of the way (that means you, Bloomberg!)
BIGGER AND BETTER>>> WE WILL NOT BE SCARED AND WE WILL NOT BACK DOWN….
Rebuild the twin towers
i support your efforts to rebuild the twin towers…….as a former worker in the buildings, i want to see them rebuilt
If we do not rebuild the terrorists have won.
Rebuilding the towers would be like getting up and brushing our selves off and faceing the enemy with stronger resolve.
Rebuild as they were, but stronger and higher.
In our hearts forever.
4 towers, twice the height of the fallen towers
We should build the towers back the way they were. The Twin Towers is the real New York. I think we should put them back bigger, better and in gold!
2 twin towers built…not exactly the same…but with the famous “shape” they once had.
The sooner the better
rebuild them,
they would be the best practical office space,
they would be the best monument,
they would be the best image of what america is and what the enemy hates.
rebuild them and rub it in!
The idea that we WOULDN’T rebuild the towers makes so sense at all. Rebuilding the towers is the strongest statement of defiance we could make.
Let’s rebuild the towers to their former glory! All those who perished should not die in vain.
TO ALL THE PEA-BRAINS BLOCKING THE REBUILDING PROJECT, GET OUT OF THE WAY AND STOP BEING THE PROBLEM!
Rebuild the towers as they were.
REBUILD. It’s time, this is one area where we DO NOT want CHANGE! PUT THEM BACK!
I agree with someone who said that the only response to 9/11 is to not only rebuild the towers the way they were, but to add one more floor! Fight on!
I just want to express my support for the rebuilding of the towers. I’m very excited about it.
Build it bigger and better.
i had worked on this project as a cost estimator and change order specialist for the port authority of NY & NJ. i want to see 2 TOWERS when i am getting ready to land.
We should rebuild the twin towers to show the terrorists that we are stronger.
I miss them.
THIS is what belongs on the World Trade Center site, not that shameful Freedom Tower.
We need to rebuild the original towers as they stood and not settle for some hideous structure.
New York use to have the greatest skyline in the world. Now its not even in the running. Rebuild our city so Bin Ladin doesn’t win.
rebuild the towers it may take some time to finally fill them but it will be a truly great tribute to our fellow americans who we lost and knowing it’s our tribute to their american spirit that is how we in this great country can show the world how we will not fear islamic extremists, terrorists and all who support them but our love for our fellow countrymen soars as high as these great towers stood truly it is how i know many feel i salute america thank you tom
RESTORE THE TOWERS ASAP!!! But make them new and improved with environmental measures requiring less energy to operate!
I have been living in Queens, N.Y. since 1982 and have been a part of the trade center since then. I would love to see the rebuilding of the World Trade to show that you cannot break us.
we need to rebuild if not the same better lots better show the rest of the world who we are
Please REBUILD the Twin Towers as the ultimate, permanent sign of both New York City’s and America’s remembrance, resolve and resilience.
Rebuild it-the same as before, stronger, better.
Rebuild, we can have a wtc and memorial in one, and of course a slap to the terrorists
It’s the right thing to do to show we’re not going to cower in fear. Rebuild the Twin Towers.
It’s the right thing to do.
It is an empty space right now. Buil the towers
and it will be filled with honor and pride.
The twin towers were always a part of the New York skyline. They need to be rebuilt.
I lived in Manhattan when the towers fell, and would love nothing more than to return once they are rebuilt. An odd looking structure meant to evoke the Statute of Liberty is just no substititute.
Don’t let them take the towers from us, Don’t let them prevail.
What are we afraid of?
It’s the right thing to do!
Rebuild the towers and let them serve as a vibrant and permanent memorial to the sacrifice made on 9/11.
That hole in the ground is a colossal embarrassment to
It really is time to rebuild the Twin Towers. If the Capitol had been destroyed by the terrorists on Flight 93 would we not have rebuilt it?
The second biggest tragedy in NYC is that we aren’t rebuilding the WTC exactly as it was. It’s almost 6 years later and nothing has been built. Lets start building, but do it right and put back the Twin Towers.
Really exciting to know that getting our tours back is still possible. Let it be known, putting it back in place will send the strongest message to the world, and to the terrorists.
YES!
I always felt that the towers should be put back the way they were. God Bless America!!!
Exactly as they were, but more reinforeced and more beautiful they should be built. Non apologetic, no short cuts, do it up right.
Built them as high or higher and put a finger in the eye of the Islamic terrorist that did this and their stupid ideas!
It’s the right thing to do.
I may not be a New Yorker, but I’m an American, and this is a wonderful idea.
History requires that we rebuild. Real, every day New Yorkers want their towers back.
Enough politics! Rebuild them now!!
I have been saying this all along!!! It is about time we begin having this discussion!!!
The tower should be rebuild the same way, but stronger and 150 stories each
It is a crime that there has been so much stalling in rebuilding Ground Zero. Bring the towers back. Make them taller. Make them safer. It’s time.
I see no other option, it is essential we send a message loud and clear to our enemies, this is a great way to do just that. We will prevail.
If we could bring back everyone that lost their life that day, we wouldnt change a thing about them, would we? Why change the look of the buildings that stood there holding our city together? I AGREE…BRING THEM BACK JUST AS THEY WERE!!
good idea.
The towers were a beautiful part of our skyline and part of what made our city unique. Rebuild!
can’t imagine anything better.
we have to rebuild the towers to restore the new york everyone knew before those bastards attacked us
Rebuild them, but up to code and safer.
Why this is up for debate is beyond my understanding. If someone lost a hand you don’t replace that hand with a foot right…… So why would you replace a iconic landmark known the world over with something else.
We need to put the twin towers back up, just bigger and better.
Show them that we are the strong free, and the brave put them back up.
the twin towers are the only thing that can fill those empty spaces. bring back our buildings.
i am and always have been a new yorker, i’ve lived here all my life…
I was also part of the rescue/recovery effort.
it hurts my soul to think that they have made every effort not to rebuild the towers.
the first day down there in the utter chaos that was happening, most of us felt don’t let them win!!! rebuild, rebuild just the way they were and stronger and more prouder that ever.
DON’T LET THEM BE JUST A MEMORY
growing up in east village (alphabet city) i grew up looking at our skyline, those beautiful twin towers. from my room window i always had a clear view of the towers. which represents so much of everything positive in this great city and nation.the new plans for the world trade center do not give the site any justice, its a joke and a band-aid solution, it sucks.we should build back the twin towers better, taller and stronger. bring back the true beauty downtown manhattan was known for.
..I believe to rebuild- an American iconic visual distinction is absolute necessary. Anything else with be a failure
we need to rebuild the towers, tru towers, bigger….stronger….taller, as all of us new yorkers and americans have become!
Put it back the way it was–only bigger and stronger!
I hope this works…..nobody I know wants to see that freedom tower built.
PLEASE GET BACK INVOLVED MR TRUMP!!!!
Anything else will be a tombstone.
I like the idea of the same or very simlar design and taller.
Rebuilding the Twin Towers is very important to both the cultural and financial prosperity of our great city.
Not rebuilding the Towers shouldn’t even be an option.

Rebuild the towers. There is no other option.
Show some balls and rebuild the Towers. BOTH OF THEM. Only taller!
Build back the twin towers ! Not, 110 floors but 220 floors and 2,001 feet tall. NOW WITH THE NORTH AMERICAN UNION AND THE NAU.
The twin towers should be rebuilt as they were originally. It represents freedom… also shows the world that we are strong…and we comeback stronger than ever.
The Twin Towers meant and still mean alot to me. It would be irresponsible not to rebuild them. I’d even go for a job in them if they put them back.
WTC Rebuild!!!!

I support the Twin Towers II plan 100%.
Hands down, the best proposal for the World Trade Center.
The proposed WTC plan is a national embarrassment. The towers should be rebuilt.
God Bless
I refuse to accept the fact that the government is gonna replace our Twin Towers w/ the overbudget Freedom Tower cause some other culture filled with evil destroyed the Twin Towers.
do it big.
This is the view I was born and raised with, this is the view that was taken away from me, this is the view that should return!
“Just real estate” my a**!
How is it allowed that so few people can be so dismissive of what so many want?
Rebuild the Twin Towers!
The proposed observatory will have glass that reflects lights and will offer a poor view.
ya gotta do it… buildem better though, technologically correct, put a dopler on these ones!
Bring back the towers as they were! A testiment to America’s determination and tribute to those lost.
Rebuild them!
I’m tired of money being wasted on a project that has not even begun. Rebuild the twin towers – it’ll cost less money and time. It’s what we want.
I used to work on 103rd floor. When they finish re-building, let me know where to send my resume to apply for a job to work on the top floor.
Having just moved to New York this year, it makes me very sad to see that nothing has been done to rebuild.
I am all for building new twin towers!!
No one will defeat the USA and bring us down.
REBUILD the TWIN TOWERS
Return the New York skyline back to the beauty it once was.
The best way to combat a terriorist is put things back together as they were.
I want to see TWIN TOWERS again
it is cute art
you shall do it
Yes for TWIN TOWERS
i love you NYC
I think that the Twin Towers should be rebuilt. They were our strongest symbol of freedom and now more then ever they would represent that our city and nation is stronger and and better than ever and also they would serve as a tribute to the ones who lost their lives. I don’t understnad if 94 percent of the population want them back including myself, why they are doing the opposite of wht we want. I love the new twin towers by Kenneth Gardener.
Please let’s all do something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If it aint broke, dont fix it!
Everyone loved those towers, why not rebuild them?
There should never have been debate, they should have been immediately rebuilt..
WE MUST REBUILD THE TWIN TOWERS AS THEY WERE !!!
TO DO LESS WILL BE AN INSULT TO THOSE HEROS WE LOST ON 9/11/01.
Bless.
hey! that would be a fantastic idea to get the twin towers!!!

1 wtc does absolutely nothing for the skyline and sends a statement that we are willing to compromise for something less ……
at least build a second tower with the freedom tower,at least we will have twin’s again.
Best Regards,
Casey Thomas R.
Re-build Twin Towers looking exactly as they were before the attack!
I am touched by your efforts. You are doing a wonderful job of keeping the memory of the Towers and more importantly those we lost on that tragic day.
We as Americans need to come back bigger and stronger.
its never too late
A pile of glass will NEVER replace the twins!!
We need to rebuild the twin towers. They’ll have fireproof elevators. It is America’s life. So let’s rebuild the twin towers.
Please rebuild them. Because they were My TWINS TOO!! TO Show them that nothing will ever break US or Tear US Apart. That is Right The US!

Feel free to donate if you wish:
